Tours, Outreach and Library Info

In-house tours and educational programs

How can you make a positive environmental impact right in your own community? One of the easiest and most accessible ways is by becoming a recycler, and a tour of the John F. Germ Recycling Center and L. Hardwick Caldwell Learning Place gives invaluable insight into the recycling efforts being accomplished in the tri-state area. You will see what takes place in a Materials Recovery Facility, learn what items are recyclable and gain a greater understanding of the need for recycling and other methods of solid waste reduction.

Included in your tour is a visit to the L. Hardwick Caldwell Learning Place, a museum featuring interactive exhibitry. Exhibits highlight topics such as solid waste management, recycling, composting, landfills and related topics. The Learning Place is also equipped with a fully outfitted audio/visual area for educational programming.

Outreach programs

We offer outreach programs to adults and children's groups. A representative from the Recycling Center will come to your location and conduct an environmental education program. A variety of program topics are available and can be conducted in a time frame that conforms to your schedule. The topic and duration can be discussed when you call to book the program. To check on speaker availability, call the reservation number.

The library features books, periodicals, vertical files, videos and curriculum/activity guides. Library resources can be checked out for two week time periods.
