- The John F. Germ Recycling
Center is actually a Materials Recovery Facility, or MRF. The MRF is
the intermediate stop between collection of recyclables and the production
of items made from these recyclables.
- Currently the John F. Germ
Recycling Center has contracts to process recyclables from 17 collectors,
including materials from curbside pick up and drop off centers in southeastern
Tennessee, northern Georgia and northern Alabama.
- Each month the John F. Germ
Recycling Center processes over 1.3 million pounds of aluminum, glass,
plastic, steel, mixed paper and newspaper that would have otherwise
been sent to the landfill.

The chasing recycle arrows
inside a black circle indicate that the item was made from recycled
materials. Other phrases that might accompany this symbol are "made
of __% post consumer or post industrial content". To be an
earth friendly shopper, look for items made of the highest percentage
of post consumer content.

that stand alone mean that the items is made of materials that can
be recycled.
